Our cottage Katharina is a rustic and romantic farmhouse from the 19th century which still retains its charm of the last centuries.
Nonetheless, the lodge has of course been adapted and modernized to meet the comfort standards of today. It is heated with five wood stoves but also with three electric radiators and hot water is available through a power boiler. Plenty of wood to heat up is available.
The house is divided into two floors, 5 bedrooms, 2 showers and 2 separate toilets. The 180 m2 ground floor beholds the entrance, a small terrace with sitting area, the kitchen with a large sitting area with satellite TV, Wi-Fi Internet, Grandma’s old wood stove, an electric stove with four plates, a dishwasher, two refrigerators with freezer compartment, a coffee maker and all necessary kitchen utensils. Also located at the ground floor are a double bedroom and another bedroom with double bed and two sofas and a fold-out mattress. Furthermore you will find an extra room for smokers with another four seats, a separate toilet and a ski storage in the woodshed.
On the first floor there are a total of three bedrooms (three triples with wardrobes, one with a washbasin in the room), two showers and a washbasin in the hallway with a wall and a curtain, a separate toilet and a balcony overlooking the valley.
The cottage is located in a secluded location on a 2-hectare property, located on a hillside, surrounded by fruit trees and a unique view of the valley and the village Mühlbach. Both in the winter and in the summer, you can optimally use the property and the garden for a variety of activities. Sled down the slopes in the winter, free to use sleds are available. In the summer you can enjoy the magnificent view, relax in the sun or have a barbecue by the fireplace. Sufficient garden furniture is available. Below the property runs the river Salzbach by. Alongside this river leads you a beautiful, kilometre-long bike path on a discovery tour.
Reaching the property by car is easily possible in the summer, in the winter, the road to the house will also be cleared of snow, but snow chains and four-wheel drive are necessary. Otherwise there is a parking about 250 meters in front of the house.
Location & Surroundings
Our cottage is only 500 meters from the ski bus / ski train and the next Inn. The next town is Mühlbach im Pinzgau in about 2 km distance.
Bramberg am Wildkogel (approx. 2.5 km) and Neukirchen am Grossvenediger are part of the Wildkogel-Arena ski area, which stretches between the Hohe Tauern National Park and the Kitzbühel Alps. In Bramberg you can catch the emerald train and the cable car directly up to the ski area. Probably the longest illuminated sled run in the world in Neukirchen is about 7 km away.
The winter and summer sports resort Hollersbach im Pinzgau (4.6 km from the Cottage) in the Hollersbachtal is also part of the Hohe Tauern National Park and has the nickname “flourishing village”, as it cultivates more than 700 different plant species and medicinal herbs.
Here, the 8-seater cable car allows a comfortable entry into the Kitzbühel Alps with an incomparable view of the Hohe Tauern and the entire Salzachtal. The Panorambahn (2 km from the Almhütte) is the southernmost access point to the ski area of the Kitzbühel Alps and brings you in 12 minutes to 1892 m altitude.
The world-famous ski area of the Kitzbühel Alps has 179 kilometres of slopes, 55 lifts from Hollersbach to the world-famous Kitzbühler Streif up to Kirchberg, 200 km of cross-country ski trails, Quality Snow park; also, very popular in this area are snow hiking and curling.
In summer Hollersbach and Mittersill in about 9 km distance are the ideal starting point for excursions into the varied landscape of the Oberpinzgau.
The scening train runs in summer in the Kitzbühel Alps. If you are brave enough you could take a paraglider back into the valley. Especially worthwhile is the visit of the Hollersbachtal, from here you can ascend to the Fürther Hütte at the Kratsenbergsee at 2,100 meters. This is a natural monument and the largest natural highest mountain lake of the Hohe Tauern. A path leads from here on to the summit cross at 3,022 meters above sea level of the Larmkogel, from where you can enjoy an imposing view of the glacier world of the Grossvenediger. Here the white-headed vultures have their sleeping places in summer.
Enjoy the summer days at the Naturbadesse with an adventure playground in Hollersbach or in the outdoor pools in Mühlbach and Mittersill. You can experience pure adventure by rafting or canyoning on the Wildkogel or by exploring the mountain world by mountain bike. About 13 km away is the Kristallbad Wald-Königsleiten with indoor and outdoor area, sauna and wellness, which is ideal for relaxing.
